We’ve got a new look at ShopTomlinsons.com today! The new design went live around 7PM Eastern Time last night (May 20th). In addition to the new color scheme, we made many other changes that will hopefully make it easier for you to use our site. Check out the screenshot of the new site design below:

In the last post I mentioned that we’ve lowered our shipping and handling rates. The new rates are just part of the changes that we’ve made to make your experience better. Some of the other features are:

  • We relocated and added an additional search box to the site. In addition to the search box on the right hand side of the page, we’ve also included an additional search box at the top left hand corner of the page.
  • You can now check out without creating an account. In a hurry, or just don’t want to bother having to remember another password? No problem – you can not check out on ShopTomlinsons.com without creating an account.
  • We changed the way that products are displayed so there is less scrolling needed. Instead of displaying our products in rows with one product on top of another one, we now display them in rows and columns. That means that a page that listed 9 products can now be viewed in just three rows instead of the previous nine – reducing scrolling time and also letting you see more products at one time.
  • We changed the width of the site to fully take advantage of your larger monitor. ShopTomlinsons.com used to be 750 pixels wide. Most of you that come to our site are looking at it on a monitor that is at least 1000 pixels wide. So when we redesigned our site we wanted to take advantage of that. Our new site is now at least 1000 pixels wide (more than 33% wider) and it grows with you. If you have a monitor that can display more pixels than that then our site will automatically adjust to the width available – up to 1300 pixels.
  • We reduced the file size of every image on our site. This results in faster page loads for you. However, we also retained the ability to click on the image to see that image full-size. This is the best of both worlds – smaller files for faster page loading, and full-size files for when you need to see the details.

To go along with our new website design we’re also going to be updating this blog more often. We’re going to be adding some product reviews, as well as other marketing information to it.
